Omiyage

The local custom of bringing back “omiyage” comes by way of Japan, where people would bring back little souvenirs or gifts from their travels (business or pleasure) for their family, friends and co-workers.

Here in this section are some places where you can find omiyage. If you have places you'd like to share, please email us!

Bath & Body Works
Bath & Body Works makes a number of products perfect for omiyage giving. They’re small (easy to transport back home), comes in a variety of “smells,” and are inexpensive. You can choose from body washes, moisturizers, hand soap and more! You’ll have a lot of fun smelling the different fragrances, and it will be hard to just pick a few! They all smell so good!

Bath & Body Works can be found at any mall in Las Vegas, including the outlets.

Beef Jerky Store
Beef jerky makes up only a very small percentage of the inventory you can find at The Beef Jerky Store.

The Cupcakery
Opened in January 2006, The Cupcakery is the sweetest thing to hit Las Vegas. Located in Henderson (about 30 minutes from the Strip by car), the cute little shop offers cupcakes with names like Oh My Gosh -- Ganache (a vanilla cake with chocolate truffle center, topped with vanilla and chocolate buttercreams); Southern Belle (a red velvet cake smothered with cream cheese frosting), and their signature cupcake Tickle Me Pink (a white cake with pink vanilla buttercream frosting).

At $2.50 per cupcake of $25 per dozen, these cupcakes are pricey, but if you're on vacation, splurge or bring back a dozen to the office for some brownie points.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
There’s nothing like fresh glazed Krispy Kreme Doughnut! I swear, it just melts in your mouth! Even “day old” donuts taste great if you zap it in your micro for about eight seconds (other people may say more or less time).

For some reason, those fundraiser doughnuts you can buy locally don’t taste the same as those you bring home from the store. So do your family, friends and co-workers a favor and bring back a dozen or so from Vegas. See Grinds for more info.

Locations:

Excalibur, Venetian, TI, Circus Circus, Palace Station , Sunset Station, Texas Station

Las Vegas Jerky’s
Tucked away on the third floor of the Plaza Hotel in Downtown, Las Vegas, locals have no problem finding Las Vegas Jerky’s.

What is Las Vegas Jerky’s? Think “Wholesale Unlimited,” and you’ll get a good idea of the offerings they have. They’re known for their bagel chips (the cinnamon flavor is a best seller) and shortbread cookies. They’re also known for coming up some interesting combinations – such as soy crisps in various flavors.

Run by former Hawaii residents who know their shoppers well, Las Vegas Jerky’s even packs your purchases in sturdy cardboard boxes with built in handles, making it a breeze to bring as a carry-on item on the plane!

1 S. Main Street

Trader Joe’s
Trader Joe’s is a grocery store that can be found in various parts of the United States. It’s sorta like Down To Earth.

Although it’s a grocery store, there’s tons of stuff that you can purchase here to bring back home. They have a wide selection of trail mix, cookies, chocolates, candies and even wine! Best of all, prices are great!

Victoria’s Secret
Omiyage from Victoria’s Secret? Yep! And it’s not underwear (although I know this girl who once brought back Victoria’s Secret panties as omiyage for all her friends)! They also sell body washes and lotions at a good price, but you can't beat their mints! Cinnamon flavored mints in the shape of lips, the Vicky Mints are hip, fun and better than Altoids!

Victoria's Secret can be found in any mall in Las Vegas.
